The Postojna Cave is an impressive cave with global recognisability that has already reached 38 million visitors in 200 years since it has been opened to the public. This wonder was formed when the Pivka river threaded its way in the underground world and created firstly a cave and later a breathtaking interior with a fantastic web of tunnels, galleries, halls and passages. This picturesque Karst phenomenon created also unique natural creations such as stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls and cave pearls. One of the endless wonders in the cave is also the so called »human fish« or »proteus« - a blind animal most notable for its adaptations to a life of complete darkness in its underground habitat.

The Predjama castle, one of the most picturesque Renaissance castles from the 16th century, is build on a 123-meter high cliff and has a connection with a mysterious cave system underneath the castle. The dramatic, unconquerable, majestic and mysterious castle is also mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cave castle in the world. The interior of the castle has today changed into an interesting museum where you can see objects that were found in the castle – a chalice, three goblets, a cup with a cover, a cup, a windmill cup, a salt cellar and two candlesticks.

The Škocjan Caves are an outstanding Karst phenomenon, situated in the protected Škocjan regional park. The area is globally protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its incredible natural and cultural sights. The cave was created by the river Reka, which disappears underground at the entrance of the cave. Over the years the river created an outstanding web of tunnels, galleries and Karst wonders – stalactites, stalagmites, cave pearls and others.
